About Glass Box
The Glass Box is part of Taunton Library and was set up in 2016 as an innovation and enterprise space to showcase new technology, help the community to develop digital skills and provide an engaging space for study, research, workshops, events and collaboration.
The Glass Box is now well established and has helped thousands of children, businesses, start-ups, and anyone who has an interest in exploring new technology and developing their creative skills.
Workshops and events have included Google Garage; Digital Taster Sessions for primary and secondary schools; UK On-Line sessions; Comic drawing workshops; Code Clubs; CoderDojos; Inspiration workshops for educationalists; Business Support events and the launch of the Somerset Digital Skills Academy.
But we see this as only the start of our exciting journey to develop the Glass Box as a digital skills hub for Taunton and the wider Somerset area. With funding from Somerset County Council and Taunton Deane Borough Council and with support from a range of organisations including Digital Taunton and Code Club South West, we aim to continue to strengthen links with educational, business and community groups to ensure the Glass Box continues to inspire, inform and enable skills development and fosters creativity, innovation and collaboration across the whole community.
